Source: Blind Survey Results
Every company is aiming to achieve the vision of being the employer of choice, but what does it take to get there?
We live in a world witnessing rapid changes, big cooperation’s keep on competing in many sectors, with that being said, are we seeing changes when it comes to employee satisfaction rates?
A survey was conducted last year for well-known companies within the tech-industry to measure the level of employee’s satisfaction rate, and who is willing to change jobs.
First thing to notice, Netflix has the highest percentage of employee satisfaction and the least when it comes to seeking new opportunities, how did Netflix manage to get these positive results?
The biggest difference is that Netflix has re-invented HR function, unlike other companies the HR function act as a strategic advisor.
12 years ago Netflix shared a slide deck of their HR vision and culture and according to Sheryl Sandberg (COO of Facebook), was “one of the most important documents ever to come out of Silicon Valley”.
The key strategies that helped Netflix maintain this reputation among other companies:
Improve performance by only hiring the best
Improve engagement by giving power to people
Improve productivity by thinking like a sport coach
Improve motivation by telling the truth
The most unique strategy implemented and what Netflix is known for –empowerment- , Netflix was one of the pioneers in implementing flexible working hours, giving their workers the empowerment and flexibility and transforming the engagement to another level, as the CEO stated the benefits gained of applying this policy , flexible working hours promotes fresh ideas which is essential for an innovative company such as Netflix. In addition to building trust and loyalty between Netflix and its employees.
And while it served Netflix pretty well, empowering employees through HR is still one of the greatest challenges for big organizations, where HR put more focus on applying strategies guidelines/KPIs and so on..... What remains uncertain; is the level of impact of such empowerment on the productivity of big organizations, moreover, would it also boost employee satisfaction ... And what are the challenges hurdling such action?
